    The Red Lake

The Red Lake is a world phenomenon for its unique shape, dimensions and colour. The lake was formed in the underground caves whose ceilings collapsed during an earthquake. Its dimensions are impressive: the lake is more than 500 metres deep, out of which 281 m are under water and the bottom of the lake is below the sea level. The precipice of the lake is 300 m long and 200 m wide. The Red Lake is situated 1.5 km northeast of Imotski and it’s not very accessible…

We would like to invite you to walk along the edge of the precipice of the lake; it’s a narrow path with a beautiful view at this natural phenomenon. After the walk, we are taking you into precipice, all the way down to the water surface. During the descent and the climb you will be firmly secured with a rope. The bravest will be able to try a real abseil (descent with a 100 m long rope). You don’t want to miss this adventure! It’s an excellent opportunity for a once-in-a-life-time experience!

The Galipovac Lake is one of the three lakes in the district of Lokvičići. Together with the Mamići Lake and the Knezovići Lake it is fairly unknown and unexplored. These lakes and their karst valleys, hills covered with gardens, various ruins and other archaeological sites, represent a tourist attraction that simply must be visited. The view is beautiful; you can see the Imotsko Polje Valley and the Prološko Blato Lake, which floods most of the surrounding area throughout the whole year. We are offering you a trekking trip along the edge of all three lakes and a tour of some of the archaeological sites with excellent opportunities for taking pictures. If you are willing, you will be able to descent and even dive in the Galipovac Lake. This lake is 50 m deep, its water is clear …   >>>>>>>

Biokovo is a giant mountain range near the sea. Its highest peak is St Jure (1762 m). This mountain shows many contrasts of nature on a rather small area with its abundance of flora, including some endemic species, and rich fauna. The climb starts in Zagvozd, a village situated 13 km southwest from Imotski. There are a few possible paths, but the most interesting one is the path towards the highest peak. During the climb, you will be going through a beech wood up to three interesting wells with stone fences at 1100 m above the sea level. After that you will be climbing on bare rocky ground all the way to the top where you will find a St Jure church and a beautiful view at the sea and some of the islands of the Adriatic. During the winter there is a lot of snow on Biokovo. The karst valleys remain covered with snow until the late spring… >>>>>>>
